About this winei

Tahbilk 'Eric Stevens Purbrick' Range ...
One of the first to place his faith in the future of Australian table wines, Eric Purbrick  was at the forefront of varietal labelling in Australia ; but perhaps his greatest legacy was to create the 'Special Bin' range of reds, beginning with a Shiraz in 1948.
Selected from the most outstanding casks produced on the Estate from a particular vintage, these wines became known as 'Reserve' in 1985 and then from 2002 they fittingly carried his name and signature: 'Eric Stevens Purbrick'.
And so, a new legacy with its roots firmly planted in the history of the Estate was born.

“You can taste a character of place and feel the voices of the past. These impressive and beautifully crafted wines are wonderful expressions of Australian terroir.”
Andrew Calliard MW ~ Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine

Tahbilk Cabernet Sauvignon ...
Tahbilk Cabernet SAauvignon is crafted with a commitment to traditional winemaking values.
Fermentation takes place in original open oak vats (over 155 years old), followed by maturation in similarly aged large French oak barrels prior to being bottled. Smaller French and American oak barrels are also used, with the wine from these blended back during the final filtering and bottling.
In the face of changing winemaking styles and trends, this has remained the way over the years, delivering wines of true provenance and reflective of each vintage.

Tasting Notei

Tahbilk 2017 'Eric Stevens' Purbrick Cabernet Sauvignon |14.0% Alcohol | Enjoy Now to 2034/2038
True to its celebrated heritage, this is an impressive wine of great depth and character.
Warm, dark fruits are interwoven with eucalypt and dried herbs, sweet spice notes, a dash  of black olive and cedary French oak. Expected tannins sit supportively on a finish that is  like the horizon never met … going on forever.
Cellaring potential out to 2034/2038 is a  given and this notable wine is appropriately presented under a replica Tahbilk 1870s label.

Tahbilk 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon |14.0% Alcohol | Enjoy Now to 2036/2038
The stellar rated 2021 vintage has delivered a Cabernet Sauvignon where it is the richness of fruit that resonates.
Deep cassis, mint and dark plum aromas and flavours are nuanced with bay leaf, black olive and clove notes.
Fine grainedtannins will support further complexity to develop out to 2036/2038 should you have the willpower to not just savour this true-to-Estate Cabernet Sauvignon now.
