A little background on Tahbilk Gold Selection 'The Quartet' ...
Especially crafted to celebrate the Purbrick family's five generational involvement on the Estate in this centennial year, the winemaking team are often presented with parcels of fruit that are particularly interesting and stand out from the ‘pack’ so to speak.
In this instance there was an idiosyncratic ‘quartet’ of varietals that did just that and, rather than lose them in a broader blend, the team wove them together to arrive at an immediately appealing and delicious release.
With our ‘Gold Selection’ range representing the pinnacle of achievement it was a natural choice that this ‘Quartet’ find its place there.
Traditional Tahbilk red wine making techniques are employed in the crafting of this wine, with fermentation in open oak vats that were first used over 150 years ago, prior to maturation in French and American oak before bottling.
