Well-structured with deep and robust aromas and flavours showing persistent black fruit characters charmed by spicy herbs, black olive and bay leaf touches all framed by a sturdy tannic grip.
Tahbilk Reds are crafted with a commitment to traditional winemaking values.Fermentation takes place in original open oak vats (over 155 years old), followed by maturation in similarly aged large French oak barrels prior to being bottled. Smaller French and American oak barrels are also used, with the wine from these blended back during the final filtering and bottling. In the face of changing winemaking styles and trends, this has remained the way over the years, delivering wines of true provenance and reflective of each vintage.
Enjoy Now to 2038/2040The 2018 growing season was dry and warm and perfect for growing premium wine grapes and that promise has been realised with our Estate Reds from that year, bright and varietal, with concentration and depth.Witness this 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon. Well-structured with deep and robust aromas and flavours showing persistent black fruit characters charmed by spicy herbs, black olive and bay leaf touches framed by a sturdy tannic grip.Cellaring will bring further character and complexity to this release but in the ying to that yang, it is an extremely satisfying drink now alongside a chargrilled vegetable lasagne or seared black pepper-crusted ahi tuna steaks.
Don't take our word for it ...
“A gentle Central Victorian Cabernet Sauvignon nicely captured with a leafy accent. Ripe, dark berries, blood plums, Central Vic earthiness on display. The palate is bright and balanced oak plays a supporting act to the supple, young cabernet. Terrific value.”Jeni Port | Halliday 2022 Wine Companion | www.winecompanion.com.au
