These limited release wines are produced from the Estate’s 1927 planted Marsanne vines – some of the oldest in the world. "1927 Vines is the equivalent of a bottle-aged Hunter Semillon, albeit with Marsanne. It's ground-breaking in style, showcasing the grape in a different light." Jeni Port | Wine Companion
THE '1927 VINES' STORY ...These limited release wines are produced from the Estate’s 1927 planted Marsanne vines – some of the oldest in the world. The fruit is harvested early at high natural acid levels. No chemicals are added and the juice then becomes fully oxidised. The clean juice is fermented at 11° to 15°C with the resultant wine ‘water’ white, flavourless and with high acid. The wine is bottled and then the magic happens.“It evolves into a wonderful, textural, mineral wine ... it’s a classic ugly duckling to beautiful swan story. The beauty of making the wine this way is that it develops in the bottle very slowly and has long term cellaring potential.” Alister Purbrick |Winemaker & 4th Generation Beginning with the first dedicated ‘1927 Vines’ Marsanne release from the 1998 vintage recognition of the impressive character and complexity of these wines continues to grow from both wine writers and critics through to Wine Show judges with the Trophy and Medal tally increasing year on year.

Don't Just Take Our Word For It ...
"1927 Vines is the equivalent of a bottle-aged Hunter Semillon, albeit with Marsanne. It's ground-breaking in style, showcasing the grape in a different light. Herbals and florals to the fore on the bouquet, penetrating and lifted. High acidity is not a strength of the grape but picked early it's bracing and crunchy against a background of quince, green apple, grilled grapefruit and lemon zest. Still young and coiled tight, give it time."Jeni Port | www.winecompanion.com.au | August 2023
