“The 2012 Shiraz shows that medium dark red colour with dark cherry fruit, spice and an edge of tannins and bright acidity due to its youthfulness. The plummy fruit is ample on the palate but shows some nice elegance and ripeness with a slight hint of dusty/savouriness in the background as the wine opens up. It’s a very good vintage and will temper well over the next five to ten years plus.”
John Helmer – Surf Coast Times
“Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2012 Shiraz puts forth youthfully subdued notes of red and black currants, mulberries and blackberries with hints of black peppercorns, tree bark and bacon. Medium-bodied, it gives an elegant expression of this grape with earthy nuances coming through in the long, velvety finish.”

“There seems to be a new look from Tahbilk and I like what I’m seeing. There is an earlier approachability that works well. One of those exceptional vintages in Victoria and it shows in this perfectly poised and classically defined Shiraz. Its medium weight with a dry arid thread typical of the producer but with more flesh and fruit character than normal. Lovely stylish wine for drinking over the next few years.”
Ray Jordan – The West Australian
“There’s rich blackberry and plum fruit with spice and pepper on the nose and palate of this generous Central Victoria red from a winery that over-delivers on value, with fine, firm tannins on the finish. It’s a natural with a good steak over the next decade. Its companion 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon also is worth seeking out.”
Mike Frost – Brisbane Courier Mail
“Old school Tahbilk here with a much more savoury and earthy mix of sensories than many other varietal styles. Swelling with bulging ripe fruits, a grainy black tea tannic grip also adds to the rustic style of this wine.”
Tony Love – Melbourne Sunday Herald Sun
