Best of a vintage’ is a mantle that this 2017 ‘Eric Stevens Purbrick’ Shiraz wears very easily. 
A symphony of deliciously ripe dark plum and red berry fruits is joined by a background  chorus of black pepper, exotic spices and liquorice notes. Well integrated French oak and  earthy tannins give supporting structure to a wine of style and distinction, presented under  a replica 1870s Tahbilk label.
Further complexity will develop out to 2030/2034.

“The colour isn’t particularly deep, but the hue is bright. The wine, too, is fresher and more lively than those of yore. The flavours span blackberry, plum and cherry, the tannins ripe and balanced in a medium-bodied palate. Large oak vats and smaller French and American barrels were used in maturation.”

This Estate Shiraz from the outstanding 2020 vintage sets a high bar for richness and complexity.
Bright and expressive spice and savoury notes swirl deliciously through a deeply flavoured dark plum and berry fruits palate supported by supple, chewy tannins.
Enjoyment now or cellaring out to 2030/2035 are both very satisfying options.
